PETER F. WINTERS ANNOUNCES HIS CANDIDACY FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE,
TENTH BRISTOL DISTRICT
Peter Winters of Marion announced today that he is seeking to represent the Tenth Bristol District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives as the Republican nominee.
Mr. Winters intends to push back against a Massachusetts legislative bureaucracy which both ignores the current reality that spending is out of control while simultaneously burdening our district and region with higher taxes and unfunded mandates.
“Our legislature needs to focus on job growth and economic development so that our region can rebound faster and become stronger economically. I hope to bring a fresh perspective to the "business as usual" attitude on Beacon Hill," says Mr. Winters.
Mr. Winters is concerned with the runaway state spending, poor jobs creation, declining wealth and aging populations in the Tenth Bristol district, which is composed of Fairhaven, Marion, Mattapoisett, Middleboro (precinct 3 and 6) and Rochester. He strongly supports a complete overhaul of our state’s economic development strategy and infrastructure, a top-down review of the tax code to make compliance easier, removal of abusive and costly state policies, and an end to unchecked spending and bureaucratic growth.
Mr. Winters supports consolidation of some of the state school systems. This would increase the purchasing power of the districts and eliminate administrative overhead. He also supports increasing choice in public schools and increasing access to vocational training and innovations in curricula.
Mr. Winters, a Marion native and Tabor Academy alumnus, resides there with his wife, Christine and their two children. He has worked as an attorney and consultant in Boston and Plymouth for the past 20 years. Mr. Winters holds an LLM in Taxation from the Boston University School of Law and an MBA from Boston University’s Graduate School of Management. He graduated from the New England School of Law after obtaining a B.S. in Marine Transportation from New York Maritime College, and is licensed as Merchant Mariner Officer by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Mr. Winters is available to meet with both press and residents and can be reached at:
